9 fun things to do in Dublin on a rainy day

With the time flying by and Autumn closing in, it's fair to say we've yet to really see a decent spell of weather in the capital.

It feels like whenever there has been a lovely sunny period, it is interrupted by more cloud and rain.

However, that's not all bad news when you're looking for things to do in The Big Smoke.

Here's our list of the best things to do on a rainy day.

Have a Pint in the oldest pub in the country

The Brazen Head Public House (Youtube)

This spot was opened around 1198, and serves incredible Irish stew and a variety of drinks.

It also has live music from 9pm every night!

Interestingly, when Robert Emmet led the Irish Rebellion against Britain in 1803, he is said to have used the Brazen Head for meetings until his execution for high treason against the King.

Take shelter in Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham Gaol is a great place for a tour that thoroughly outlines Ireland's journey to independence from the 1780s onwards.

Chances are, you'd want to get there early on a rainy day as tours are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tour the 'Dead-Zoo'

The National History Museum - aka the Dead Zoo (The National History Museum of Ireland)

This is the nickname given to the National History museum.

An escape room is a live‐action team‐based game where players work together to discover clues, solve puzzles, and accomplish tasks in rooms in order to progress to a specific goal in a limited amount of time.

There are numerous of these scattered around the city centre, including 'Incognito Escape Room' in The Liberties and 'AdventureRooms Dublin' just of Parnell Street.
