Nine civilians were wounded on Tuesday in a terrorist attack launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen against Saudi Arabia’s Abha International Airport.
Spokesman for the Saudi-led Arab coalition Colonel Turki al-Maliki said the wounded included eight Saudis and an Indian national.
They are all in stable condition, he added.
The attack took place shortly after midnight on Tuesday, he revealed.
Air traffic at the facility was not affected by the incident, tweeted the airport authorities.
“The terrorist Houthi militia is maintaining its immoral practices by targeting civilians and civilian facilities that are protected by International Humanitarian Law,” said Maliki, adding that the militants had claimed full responsibility for the attack through their media.
The Houthis revealed that they had used a drone to attack the airport in “clear admission that they had targeted civilian facilities… which is tantamount to a war crime,” stated the spokesman.
The continuation of such terrorist acts and with such sophisticated capabilities proves the complicity of the Iranian regime in supporting the terrorist Houthi militias and in violating relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, stressed Maliki.
He vowed that the Arab coalition will continue to take “firm deterrent” measures against the militias in order to protect civilians, adding that the terrorists responsible for plotting and executing this attack will be held accountable.
