Odell Beckham Jr. among 9 Browns missing from Thursday’s voluntary OTA session

Nine Browns players were not active in Thursday’s voluntary OTA session. A full 10 percent of the 90-man roster was not practicing in the eighth OTA session of the offseason.

The headliner among the missing is star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who has attended just one of the team’s voluntary offseason functions since being acquired in a trade from the New York Giants in March. Beckham has not given any reason for his absence, but none is required for any voluntary activities.

Running back Duke Johnson is also away from the team. Johnson has asked for a trade and has not participated in anything either. Coach Freddie Kitchens said on Thursday he does expect to see Duke at next week’s minicamp, which is mandatory.

Seven of the nine are in Berea but not participating because of injuries. That list is headlined by Jarvis Landry. The wideout is dealing with a minor injury, and Kitchens declared the decision to keep him out of practice “precautionary.”

The others working off to the side with trainers:

  •  S Morgan Burnett
  • CB Justin Burris
  • WR Blake Jackson
  • CB Donnie Lewis
  • WR Damion Ratley
  • WR Derrick Willies
