An 87-year-old woman was seriously injured after being hit by a car that failed to stop.
The emergency services were called out to Church Road, in Haydock, at 7.20am on Thursday following reports that a pedestrian was hit by a car.
The woman, 87, suffered serious injuries and is now in hospital.
The car, described only as black, did not stop at the scene.
Police have now appealed for information after the incident near Kenyons Lane South.

A spokesman told the ECHO : "We are appealing for information following a fail to stop RTC in Haydock on Thursday, 15 April.
"At around 7.20am, emergency services were called to Church Road to reports of a collision between a car and an 87-year-old female pedestrian, near to the junction of Kenyons Lane South. The car is described as black, but the make and model is unknown at present.
"The female remains in hospital with serious injuries. Witness and CCTV enquiries are now ongoing to identify the driver of the vehicle.
