85-year-old woman dies after being hit by a car in care home car park

An 85-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car in a residential home car park near Bridgend .

Officers from South Wales Police were called to Morgana Court, in South Cornelly, on Monday afternoon following reports of a woman being hit by a silver Renault Captur.

Sadly, the 85-year-old died at the scene.

Her family has been informed and is currently being supported by specialist officers.

HM Coroner has also been informed.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: "South Wales Police is investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred in the car park of a residential home this afternoon (Monday, December 16).

"Officers were called to Morgana Court on Porthcawl Road, South Cornelly, at approximately 2.35pm after a silver Renault Captur was in collision with a woman.

"The 85-year-old woman died at the scene.

"Her family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers. HM Coroner has also been informed."

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or the moments prior to it.
