84-year-old man dies after being hit by a car in Caerphilly

An 84-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in Caerphilly on Tuesday, Gwent Police has confirmed.

Officers were called to the scene of a collision between a pedestrian and a car on Bedwas Road shortly after midday on April 6.

The pedestrian, an 84-year-old man from Caerphilly, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are now investigating the incident and have called for anyone who may have any further information about the collision to get in touch.

A spokesman from Gwent Police said: "Officers are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which took place in Caerphilly yesterday.

"We were called to a report of a collision between a pedestrian and a car in Bedwas Road, shortly before 12.20pm yesterday, Tuesday, April 6.

"The pedestrian, an 84-year-old man from Caerphilly, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"His family are being supported by specially trained officers."

Gwent Police is now appealing for information about the incident.

The spokesman said: "Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, who has not yet spoken to officers, is asked to get in contact.

"Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
