83-year-old man robbed in his own home in 'nasty and distressing' incident

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after an elderly man was allegedly robbed in his own home.

Two men are believed to have entered the home of an 83-year-old man in Stathern Walk, Bestwood, shortly after 9pm yesterday (Saturday).

The men, described as white, aged in their 30s and dressed in black, are said to have walked in through an unlocked door before threatening the victim and leaving with a small amount of cash.

The victim was shaken by the incident but otherwise unharmed.

Detective Sergeant Nigel Malik said: “This was a nasty and distressing incident and we are determined to get to the bottom of what happened”

“We are still in the early stages of this investigation and are appealing for anyone who may have seen these men either prior to or after incident to come forward by calling us on 101 quoting incident number 675 of 29 August. You can also contact us anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
