82-year-old woman killed in road crash on A710 near Dalbeattie

An 82-year-old woman was killed in a road crash near Dalbeattie on Thursday, May 23.

Two Vauxhall Astras were involved in the smash on the A710, which happened between Dalbeattie and Kippford at around 9.35pm.

Helen McCallum, from Kilmarnock, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other occupants of the cars – an 83-year-old man, a 23-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, were taken to Dumfries
and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

The road was closed for several hours so that police could carry out an accident investigation.

Sergeant Paul Dodds said: “An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the
crash.

“I am appealing to anyone who was on the A710 around the time of the incident to contact us.

“In particular, I’m asking motorists with dash cams to check their footage and hand in any images which
could assist us in our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to call road policing offices in Dumfries via 101, quoting incident number 4370 of May 23.
