An 82-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run last month in Bronzeville has passed away, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A vehicle drove by and hit Donald Williams as he was crossing the street about 6:10 p.m. Dec. 10 in the 100 block of West 33rd Street, according to Chicago police, who said Williams was stabilized at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

However, Williams, who lived near the street where he was struck, suffered complications from his injuries and died Sunday, according to an autopsy by the medical examiner’s office. His death was ruled an accident.

The driver who struck Williams fled the scene, police said.
