New sign designates Hindenburg Park in La Crescenta
A new welcome sign at Crescenta Valley Park is a nod to an era when the open space was used for gatherings by local Germans. It tells visitors they've come to Hindenburg Park, a section of Crescenta Valley Park renamed by Los Angeles County officials in 1992. Glendale News-Press
Burbank's interim city manager talks about new job
As of this month, former city manager Mark Scott is gone -- he resigned and took the top executive job in San Bernardino, a city with its own urgent challenges -- and Burbank Water and Power General Manager Ron Davis has stepped in to fill his shoes until a permanent replacement is selected. In an interview this week, his second week as interim city manager, Davis said he's interested in the permanent position, but "you don't know till you try." Burbank Leader
Rise in riders
La Ca officials reported a dramatic increase in the number of riders using the city's shuttle service in 2015, thanks to the city's purchase of two 35-foot compressed natural gas buses in May and the addition of a new route, 34, from La Ca High School to the Montrose Shopping District. Comedy fundraiser to support Flint
Christopher Titus will lead a fundraising show Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank that will benefit residents of Flint, Michigan, who have infamously been victimized by water contaminated by high levels of lead poisoning. Titus will be joined by comedians from "The 99% Funnies Podcast." Proceeds will be given to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. Marquee
