816 new cases in Tokyo; 101 severely ill

The Tokyo metropolitan government reported 816 newly confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus on Sunday.

The number of people in serious condition increased by seven from the previous day to 101, exceeding 100 for the first time since the state of emergency was lifted.

The daily figure of newly confirmed cases was up by two from the previous day and has now exceeded 800 for two consecutive days.
