A series of 'rapid response' housing projects designed to keep a roof over the heads of vulnerable Victorians will be built after an $80 million injection by the state government.
Collectively the projects will provide almost 240 new homes across the state, Housing Minister Richard Wynne said.
"We're changing lives with our unprecedented investment in safe and secure housing, not only putting a roof over people's heads but creating thousands of jobs as we rebuild from coronavirus," Mr Wynne said on Sunday.
The funding includes $20 million to build 74 new social and affordable homes in Werribee, with construction to begin in late April.
The homes will be managed by not-for-profit organisation Unison in partnership with Jesuit Social Services, Bolton Clarke's Homeless Person's Program and the Wyndham Health Housing and Homelessness Alliance.
An autistic student, respite, crisis and residential care hub in Mansfield will also receive $6.5 million, and there's $3.5 million for safe and stable housing for young people across Victoria.
The rapid response projects are part of the Victorian Government's housing investment that includes nearly $500 million for public and community projects.
