80-year-old woman slapped across the face by stranger as she walked down Darlington street

An 80-year-old woman was slapped by a stranger as she walked down the street.

The pensioner was left shocked and in pain after the assault by one of two men who had been walking in front of her on Clifton Road in Darlington.

The men were walking in front of the woman near Sainsbury's at around 3pm on Saturday, July 11.

One of the men then turned around suddenly and slapped the woman across the face.

The other man is then believed to have led him away.

The victim was left shaken and suffered redness and pain to her face as well as earache.

Police officers are asking the two men to come forward as well as any witnesses.
