All 80 staff at the Daily and Sunday Sport newspapers have been made redundant following the publisher's slide into administration.
It was the first major decision taken by BDO, the accountancy firm, appointed to administrate Sport Media Group (SMG) after it lost the support of its bankers.
In a statement today, BDO said it would "continue to seek a buyer" for the entire SMG business, which also includes telecoms and digital arms.
Dermot Power, BDO's business restructuring partner, said the administrators were "taking all necessary steps to maximise recoveries for the benefit of creditors and would welcome early contact with any interested parties".
