80s Invasion tour scrapped as all shows including Newcastle are suddenly pulled

It was the concert series that promised to take ticket holders on a nostalgia filled journey back in time but the 80s Invasion tour will no longer invade Newcastle or any other UK city after it was suddenly pulled on Friday afternoon.

The 80s Invasion Tour was set to call in at Newcastle Arena on Thursday, November 7 and feature live sets from a whole host of top acts from the era including from Sister Sledge, Jason Donovan, The Fizz, Five Star, Martika, Hue & Cry and Living In A Box featuring Kenny Thomas.

But at lunchtime on Friday it was revealed the the whole tour, which was also set to visit Cardiff, Manchester, Leeds, Hull, Glasgow, Liverpool and London was, had been cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances."

A spokesperson for Utilita Arena Newcastle told Chronicle Live "The Promoter who hires the Arena has made the decision that due to unforeseen circumstances the 80’s Invasion tour is being cancelled, refunds are available from the point of purchase.

"All ticket purchasers are being contacted directly. We would like to apologise for any disappointment caused."

If you're sad to miss out, Sister Sledge are on , alongside the likes of OMD, Billy Ocean and Go West, while Jason Donovan has just announced he'll be at Sage Gateshead next year.

And there will be a generous helping of 80s classics at Utilita Arena next year when Rick Astley brings his Greatest Hits tour to Newcastle.
