80% of Madhya Pradesh’s new Covid cases from Bhopal

BHOPAL: In past 3 days—26 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in Madhya Pradesh says state health bulletin and the worrying part is that of these 80% have been reported from state capital Bhopal only.

Officials from city say majority are travellers coming to city from other places.

As per the state health bulletin dated October 6, a total of 16 new cases were reported in the state and of these 11 were from Bhopal alone. Similarly on October 7, only 4 cases were reported in the state and all were reported from the state capital. And, as per the state bulletin released on October 7, a total of 6 cases were reported and of it, 5 were reported from the state capital only. Thus overall, 20 out of the total 26 cases reported in the entire state, were reported from the city only.

When contacted over the issue, chief medical and health officer, Bhopal Dr Prabhakar Tiwari said, “Majority of these patients are travellers who had come from other places, it comprises nearly 80% of the new cases reported in past few days.”

“We are keeping a close vigil. And samples of all the people coming from other parts are being taken and examined not only those who are coming the city, we are also randomly testing those who are going outside from the city at railway stations and other places,” he added.

State health bulletin consists of cases reported in past 24 hours, those tested positive on particular day are reported in the city bulletin released late in the night on that day.
