We are taught to push through discomfort. However, ignoring these signals leads to burnout, anxiety, and illness. Giving yourself space is, therefore, a radical act of self-preservation. It is not selfish; in fact, it is necessary. For example, it could be as simple as taking a 15-minute walk alone. Or it might mean saying “no” to a commitment. So, listen to your body and mind.
