We’ve all been there on Christmas Day, lying on the sofa after your second and third plate full of turkey, stuffing and cocktail sausages and the sweet tins are starting to make you feel a little ill.
The festive over indulgence has taken its toll and the Christmas specials are still on the go on the telly.
But rather than curling up in a ball and falling asleep, one thing that could make you feel a whole lot better is getting out into the fresh air around Co Tyrone.
The pandemic has allowed us to appreciate what’s on our doorstep a bit more, and here in the county we have a wealth of great walks a short jaunt away.
Here’s some of the best places to get out and get your Christmas steps in around the county on Christmas day.
Gortin Glen Forest Park
A great spot for a wintery walk out in the fresh air, with several different trails to brush off the Christmas dinner cobwebs.
New facilities and mountain biking trails have proven popular, but the best part about the Glen is having a wander through its epic forestry and getting lost among the trees.

Knockmany Forest

Just a few miles from Augher, Knockmany is a popular spot for walkers and was apparently the birthplace of mythical giant Finn McCool.
We’re sure even Finn would be feeling a lot better with a dander around Knockmany after his Christmas Day spuds.
Drum Manor

Situated just outside Cookstown on the road to Omagh, Drum Manor is home to many memories from those of Mid Ulster.
Why not make a few more with the family with a jaunt around the park on Christmas Day
The Washing Bay
Down around the shores of Lough Neagh is a beautiful spot at any time of the year, but a brisk Christmas walk around here will do you the world of good.
New walking trails have recently been opened in the area, and will definitely shake the cobwebs off with a cool breeze coming in from the lough.
Lovers Retreat
This Omagh beauty spot as long been a favourite for those in the town and surrounding areas.
With a picturesque waterfall among its high points, stop off for a moment and digest the views, as well as the remainder of your Christmas dinner.
Brantry Lough
The picturesque walk near Dungannon in Co Tyrone is home to a variety of wildlife, and an easy walk around the lough means it’s not too taxing on the legs.
Just perfect for that Christmas day dander to get some fresh air around your face.
Lough Fea
Set in the wild mountain scenery of the Sperrins Region , Lough Fea covers 180 acres and supplies the entire area and beyond with fresh water.
The walkway contains a mix of panoramic scenery and calming waters and makes this spot the ideal place for an idyllic Christmas Day dander.
Dungannon Park

You don’t have to go far from the centre of Dungannon for a nice retreat to stretch the legs.
The park has interesting paths that surround the grounds, with brightly coloured flowerbeds and the magnificent 13 acre freshwater lake.
