In the NFL, it’s all about wins and sometimes those wins can be hard to come by.
While wins and losses are attributed to the execution of the team overall, the quarterback is mostly seen as the one that bears the most responsibility obtaining the victory or be charged with the loss. They are also judged by their record whether fair or unfair.
In the case of the Jacksonville Jaguars, there are a few quarterbacks that own very interesting records in head-to-head contests with them. Here are five quarterbacks with some highly noticeable records against the Jags:
Note: The list will be a mixture of great quarterbacks but also the unlikeliest of quarterbacks that own a winning record against the franchise.
8. Paxton Lynch (1-3 in career, 1-0 vs. the Jags)

Let’s start things off with an interesting name nobody knew had a win against the Jags: Paxton Lynch. While some of the quarterbacks on this list will be Hall-of-Famers when they retire, the same likely won’t be said about the former Denver Bronco.
Lynch hasn’t had the career that was expected when he was selected with the 26th overall pick out of The University of Memphis garnering a 1-3 record in his career. Unfortunately for Jaguars fans, his one victory would come at Jacksonville’s expense as the Broncos would defeat the Jaguars by a score of 20-10 in 2016.
Injuries and overall ineffectiveness caused Lynch to not start a game since 2017 where he would lose his next two starts. Lynch is now a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers where he is on a two-year, $1.38 million contract.
7. Nick Foles (2-0 against the Jags)

Another rather interesting name on this list for obvious reasons.
Nick Foles has been in the league since 2012 after being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the No. 88 overall pick. After stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and the then St. Louis Rams, Foles would return to Eagles and would eventually deliver them their first Super Bowl win in franchise history.
Foles would parlay that success into a four-year, $88 million contract with the Jaguars. Unfortunately, things did not work out as the Jaguars would trade Foles to the Chicago Bears after just one year.
While his career in Duval didn’t go the way that he planned, Foles actually has a great record against them at 2-0 (while with the Chiefs and Eagles). He’ll have a chance to further improve that record this year with the Chicago Bears if he’s starting late in the season for them.
6. David Carr (6-3 vs. the Jags)

The former Houston Texans signal-caller was quite the obstacle to overcome for the Jaguars in the past.
David Carr went an abysmal 23-56 in his playing career and 22-53 as a member of the Texans where he spent the first four years of his NFL tenure. While his overall record isn’t spectacular, Carr owns a 6-3 record against the Jaguars.
One game of note is when the Texans would shutout the Jaguars in a December matchup in 2004 by a score of 21-0 in a game where Jaguars quarterback Byron Leftwich threw for only 35 passing yards and one interception.
Carr eventually joined the New York Giants roster, which produced world champions in 2011. He would make his last start in 2012 with them and was released the following year.
5. Deshaun Watson (4-1 vs. the Jags)

Already one of the best young quarterbacks in the league, current Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has wasted no time making his mark on the AFC South.
Watson has been an absolute force against the Jaguars going 4-1 in his budding career. The one loss came in 2017 where Watson replaced Tom Savage midway through the two team’s season opener as a result of the veteran playing poorly. The switch to Watson proved to be too late, as the Texans would lose to the Jags by a score of 29-7.
Who knows? Maybe Watson is undefeated against the Jags if the Texans simply start him out of the gate. That said, the Jags need to figure him out quickly before he builds a Peyton Manning type record against them.
4. Drew Brees (3-0 vs. Jags as a member of the Saints)

While the New Orleans Saints and the Jaguars haven’t met much in their history, quarterback Drew Brees owns a spectacular record against them.
Brees is 3-0 against the Jaguars in a Saints uniform and 4-1 overall if you include his time with the San Diego Chargers. The Jaguars and the Saints last met in the 2019 season, however, Brees was out due to injury and the Saints would go on to win by the score of 13-6 with now Carolina Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater earning the credit for the win.
Just like others to come on this list, Brees will be a walk-in for the Hall-of-Fame when he retires, so it is not outside the realm of possibility to lose to a quarterback of his skill. However, with a winning streak like that, you can’t blame the Saints for circling the Jags on their schedule.
3. Peyton Manning (15-5 against the Jags)

Another shoo-in Hall-of-Famer joins this list as former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning ended his football career with an incredible 15-5 career record against Jacksonville. Of course, most of his damage came as a member of the Colts where he would spend 13 years of his career.
Manning’s last start against the Jaguars came as a member of the Broncos in 2013 where he would soundly beat them by a score of 35-19.
Manning retired after the 2015 season but his impact was definitely felt across the AFC South and the Jaguars felt every bit of it no matter which team he played for.
2. Philip Rivers (7-2 vs. the Jags)

Longtime Los Angeles and San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers adds his name to the list of 2000-10 era quarterbacks who the Jags have had problems with.
Rivers has gone 7-2 against the Jaguars over his 16-year career in the NFL. His latest victory came in an absolute drubbing of the Jags last season where the Chargers would beat them by a score of 45-10. Simply put, the Jaguars’ matches against the Chargers over the last decade have been brutal for Jacksonville as they went 1-7 against them from 2010-20.
It looks like the Jaguars and Rivers will continue to get well acquainted as he is now signed in the AFC South with the Indianapolis Colts on a one-year deal. This means that the Jags and the Colts will meet twice this season and hopefully that won’t mean more victories for No. 17.
1. Tom Brady (8-1 vs. Jags, 3-0 in playoffs)

The man who is not only a Hall-of-Famer and a six-time Super Bowl Champion, but also a perennial thorn in the Jaguars side. Former New England Patriots and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady owns an absolutely sterling record against the Jags going 8-1 overall, including the playoffs where he is a perfect 3-0 against them. The Jags’ only victory against Brady came in 2018 when the Jags beat him at TIAA Bank Field, giving them a little payback from the AFC Championship loss the Pats handed them in 2017.
There is zero shame in losing to a quarterback who will be a virtual lock for the Hall-of-Fame and widely regarded as the greatest quarterback in the history of the league. However, it is mind-boggling to see a player even as great as Brady completely dominate an opponent for more than a decade.
