8 players the Lakers can get for a minimum deal if they sign a third superstar

The Los Angeles Lakers appear to be going all in on top talent in 2019-20.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the franchise will deal Mo Wagner, Isaac Bonga and Jemerrio Jones to the Washington Wizards as part of the Anthony Davis trade with the Pelicans. That gives them enough room to sign another max player if they so choose, but they could also split up that money and build a supporting cast around LeBron James.

However, this move sure makes it seem like they’re maneuvering to add another superstar alongside James and Anthony Davis. And that had everyone wondering just who else the Lakers could sign at basically the league minimum to fill out the team that also includes Kyle Kuzma and rookie Talen Horton-Tucker.

Luckily, we’re here to help the team out. Here are a few names they can consider:

1. J.R. Smith

Please please please I beg of you make this happen!!

2. Kyle Korver

Another ex-James teammate who was dealt to the Grizzlies in the Mike Conley trade. If Memphis buys him out, he can sign in LA.

3. Carmelo Anthony

In exchange for playing for a ring and coming off the bench, Melo would have to take the minimum. Get out the banana boat!

4. James Jones

I don’t care that he’s the Phoenix Suns’ general manager. He was always James’ teammate when they were contending with the Heat and Cavaliers. Get him out of retirement!!

5. Vince Carter

I’m pretty serious about this. He shot 38.9 percent from three last year. He can be an asset.

6. Dragan Bender

Now I’m just looking on free agent lists and wondering who would take the minimum. How about the former Sun who was fourth overall in 2016?

7. Jared Dudley

He got a nice start on getting in James’s good graces last year.

8. Rajon Rondo

He’d need a big paycut, but hey, he’d get another more shot at a title!
