8 players sitting out Packers Family Night Scrimmage

Kicker Mason Crosby and cornerback Josh Jackson are among the eight players missing the Green Bay Packers’ Family Night Scrimmage, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

Crosby (calf) and Jackson (foot) still haven’t practiced during training camp.

Coach Matt LaFleur suggested both are nearing a return, but neither is healthy enough to practice Friday night.

Running backs Jamaal Williams (hamstring) and Aaron Jones (hamstring), linebacker Kendall Donnerson (hamstring), linebacker Greg Roberts (core), offensive tackle Jason Spriggs (trap) and defensive lineman Fadol Brown (calf) are also missing the annual scrimmage at Lambeau Field.

The Packers are exercising caution with both their top two running backs, who are both battling hamstring issues.

The Packers are off Saturday before returning to practice Sunday. The team will host the Houston Texans for a pair of joint practices on Monday and Tuesday before Thursday night’s preseason opener at Lambeau Field.
