8 more patients die in Nottingham hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus

Eight patients at Nottingham's hospitals have died in the last two days after testing positive for coronavirus.

On March 29, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust said 10 people had died, and it has now confirmed a further 8 patients have died as of March 31.

It brings the total number of deaths to 18.

Dr Keith Girling, medical director at Nottingham University Hospitals, said: “Sadly we can confirm that a further eight patients have died having tested positive for COVID-19. Regrettably, that means that 18 patients we were caring for have sadly died.”

“The patients were aged between 63 and 97, and died between 3 and 29 March.”

“The families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”

It comes as hospital trusts across the UK recorded a record surge in deaths.

A further 367 people have now died after testing positive for the covid-19 virus across the country, bringing the total to 1,651.
