8 more dengue patients reported in Lucknow, 4 at Civil hospital

LUCKNOW: Eight dengue patients were reported in the city on Monday of which four had to be admitted to Dr SPM Civil hospital. Only one dengue case was reported a day earlier on Sunday. With this, the number of dengue patients in the city since January has reached 110. Of these, over 50% cases have been reported since July.

While two patients tested dengue positive at Lokbandhu combined hospital, six tested positive at Civil hospital. Four have been admitted there.

“One female patient was admitted in the dengue ward already. There are now five dengue patients receiving treatment,” said hospital chief medical superintendent Dr SK Nanda.

Four others are recuperating in their homes. Majority of these are from Alambagh.

Meanwhile, a team of doctors from the chief medical officer’s office issued notices to six homes in Husainabad for having conditions conducive to the growth of mosquitoes.

Cop dies of dengue

A policeman from Prayagraj died due to dengue shock syndrome at Lucknow’s Medanta hospital on Sunday night. This is the second dengue death in Lucknow within a fortnight. “He was a young admitted to ICU. He died of dengue shock syndrome,” hospital director Prof Rakesh Kapoor said.

On August 31, former minister and SP politician from Jaunpur KP Yadav (62) had died at Medanta hospital following dengue shock syndrome.
