8 hurt in Chicago shootings

July 20--Eight men were wounded in separate shootings citywide since Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Most recently, a 22-year-old walked into Mount Sinai Hospital at about 2:50 a.m. Monday with a gunshot wound to the foot, police said, adding that he was in good condition.

He told authorities the shooting occurred in the 3900 block of West Roosevelt Road in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. No details about the shooting were available.

In other incidents:

--A 20-year-old man was shot about 1:45 a.m. Monday in the 4100 block of South Albany Avenue in the Brighton Park neighborhood, police said. He was standing on the corner with several other men when someone fired shots from across the street, hitting him in the left hand, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago police spokeswoman. He was taken to Saint Anthony Hospital in good condition.

--About 1:10 a.m. Monday in the Albany Park neighborhood, a 21-year-old man was standing in the 4400 block of North Kedzie Avenue when four or five men walked up to him yelling gang slogans, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman. Someone shot the man in the left ankle and right thigh, and he was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition stabilized.

--About 1:08 a.m. Monday, a 21-year-old man was shot in the thigh in the 4400 block of North Kedzie Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

--At 10:30 p.m. Sunday, a 20-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 6100 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue in the Galewood neighborhood on the Northwest Side when he heard shots and felt pain, according to Alfaro. The man was shot in the left thigh and in both feet, Alfaro said. He was dropped off at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where his condition stabilized.

--At about 8 p.m. Sunday, a 21-year-old man was shot in the right shoulder in the 4500 block of West 16th Street in the Lawndale neighborhood, Alfaro said. He was standing on the sidewalk when someone in a black SUV drove past and fired shots. He went to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was treated and released.

--At about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, a 23-year-old man was shot in the 5300 block of South King Drive in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side. The man was shot in the left leg and went on his own to Provident Hospital of Cook County, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.

The man told authorities he was driving north on King when he stopped at a stop sign and a man or boy fired a gun at him.

--At about 1:05 p.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of South Archer Avenue in the Bridgeport neighborhood, a 36-year-old man was shot in the leg, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman. The man was reported in good condition at Stroger Hospital.
