KALABURAGI: Eight members of a family from Bidar, including three women, were killed and as many injured after a Tempo Traveller in which they were travelling collided with a truck in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district around 5.30am Sunday.
The tourist vehicle carrying 16 people from Karnataka was headed towards Ayodhya from Kedarnath, Uttarakhand, when the accident occurred.
The family from Gumpa area in Bidar’s Old City had hired the vehicle for a North India tour from May 10 to June 1. Of the eight victims, seven died on the spot and one succumbed to injuries at a hospital. The minibus driver was also killed in the head-on collision, police said. All the injured, including four children, are receiving treatment at Bahraich district hospital. “The accident occurred near Nainiha market on the Bahraich-Lakhimpur road,” Bahraich superintendent of police Keshav Kumar Choudhary said.
