Bollywood actor Bhumi Pednekar has shared a selfie from the hospital. Bhumi has just recovered from dengue.
In a post shared on Instagram, Bhumi wrote: Ek Dengue ke machar ne, mujhe 8 din ka massive torture de diya. But today I woke up feeling like a WOW, so I had to click a selfie.
Guys be careful, cause the last few days were extremely tough for my family and I. Mosquito repellents are a must right now. Keep your immunity up. High pollution levels have most of our immunities compromised. Quite a few people I know have gotten dengue recently. Yet again ek invisible virus ne halat kharab kar di :)
She thanked the hospital, the nursing, the kitchen, the cleaning staff, friends and family members for helping her during the recovery process.

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne viral infection that is prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The primary vector for the virus is the Aedes mosquito, particularly Aedes aegypti. Dengue is a significant public health concern, causing a range of symptoms from mild fever to severe and potentially life-threatening conditions. Dengue poses a global health challenge, with millions of cases reported annually, particularly in Asia, the Americas, and Africa. Climate change, urbanization, and increased global travel contribute to the spread of the Aedes mosquito, expanding the geographic range of dengue transmission.
Mystery pneumonia cases rising in China: Should India be worried?
The onset of dengue fever is often characterized by sudden high fever, severe headaches, pain behind the eyes, and joint and muscle pain. These symptoms are accompanied by fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and a rash. Dengue fever is also known for causing severe flu-like symptoms, leading to its colloquial name, "breakbone fever," due to the intense joint and muscle pain it induces. While the majority of dengue cases are mild and can be managed with supportive care, a more severe form of the disease, known as dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), can occur.
In DHF, the symptoms progress to include bleeding, low platelet count, and plasma leakage, which can lead to shock. Dengue shock syndrome (DSS) is the most severe manifestation of the disease, characterized by a sudden drop in blood pressure that can be fatal if not promptly treated.
Preventing dengue relies heavily on mosquito control measures, such as eliminating standing water where mosquitoes breed and using insect repellents. There is no specific antiviral treatment for dengue, so management involves supportive care to alleviate symptoms. Fluid replacement is crucial, especially in severe cases, to combat dehydration resulting from fever and vomiting.
