On Friday, 783 new cases of novel coronavirus infection were confirmed in Tokyo, the metropolitan government announced. The number hit a record 1,337 on Thursday, but marked below 800 for the first time in three days on Friday.
According to the metropolitan government, 88 patients are in serious condition, one less than the previous day. About half of the newly confirmed cases are people in their 20s and 30s, totaling 377. People age 65 or older accounted for 87 cases.
