76-year-old scarred for life in slash attack during mass rammy in pub

A pensioner has been scarred for life after being slashed in a terrifying pub rammy.

Violence broke out at the bar on Saturday night involving a number of punters after two men are believed to have been involved in an earlier physical confrontation.

It appears the 76-year-old was hit with a blade and a bar worker who tried to intervene to stop the violence was also injured.

Lanarkshire Live reports the rammy broke out at 10pm at Rutherglen's 100 Acre Bar and it is not known if the elderly man was involved in the trouble, or was an innocent bystander.

Police are trying to trace the person responsible for the attack on the OAP.

Inspector Kevin Miller of Rutherglen police office said: "An altercation occurred within the premises between a 30-year-old male and a 31-year-old male, one of whom has now been traced and arrested.

"This disturbance resulted in another altercation involving several parties whereby a 76-year-old male sustained several lacerations resulting in serious injury.

"A member of the bar staff was also injured upon trying to intervene and split up the fight. The enquiry is live and ongoing with CID to identify and trace the suspect responsible for the serious assault on the 76-year-old.
