750 times bigger than Pentagon: Egypt planning a massive 22000-acre armed forces headquarters called 'The Octagon'

Egypt has officially inaugurated the State Strategic Command Headquarters, popularly known as "The Octagon", a military complex that has replaced the Pentagon as the world's largest defence headquarters by area, reports TOI.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated the facility in Egypt's New Administrative Capital on Saturday after signing its founding charter and raising the armed forces flag. The complex will serve as the central military and defence headquarters for the Egyptian Armed Forces.

Spanning around 22,000 acres, the State Strategic Command Headquarters comprises 13 integrated strategic and logistical zones, making it the largest defence and administrative complex in the Middle East, according to Egypt's State Information Service.
