Officers making well-being check find 74-year-old man fatally shot inside Englewood home

A 74-year-old man was found fatally shot inside his home in Englewood on the South Side Tuesday night.

Officers were responding to a request for a well-being check from a family member and found the door open at the home in the 6900 block of South Aberdeen Street, police said.

They discovered the man on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Milton Taylor.

Police say the shooting apparently occurred between 7:30 p.m. Monday and 6:55 p.m. Tuesday.

No one was in custody.
