A British pensioner has been found safe after he went missing for three days in the thick northeast Thai jungle.
Barry Weller was travelling on his motorbike while on his way to visit friends when he lost his way.
Thankfully, the 72-year-old was found in a remote forest in Khon Kaen province by a local hunter on Friday.
The man was found asleep on a rock formation after he climbed up to see if he could find a route out from a higher vantage point.
Mr Weller said he had not eaten anything while he was lost in the jungle and sustained himself by sipping water that was puddled on rocks, using grass as a straw.
A video showed Mr Weller walking out of the forest as the rescue team surrounded him.
He was wearing a pair of shorts and a buttoned-down shirt. He had no shoes on his feet.
Mr Weller appeared to have small scratches on his legs and arms but otherwise looked in good shape.
He said: “Yes, I am wonderfully happy. I have never been so happy in my life.”
He added: “My feet are sore, otherwise I am happy. Hot. I just admire the work these people are doing. It makes me cry. They are doing a good job.”
As Mr Weller exited the forest, he was reunited with his partner, Tawee, who looked extremely relieved to see him.
The pair hugged tightly before emotionally thanking the rescuers.
Tawee said: “Thank you everyone. Thank you to all the teams who kept fighting along with me.”
The 49-year-old said Mr Weller left their home on Tuesday and never returned.
She said it had rained heavily, and she had attempted to search for her partner but was unsuccessful.
Tawee then alerted the authorities, and the search began.
The pensioner, who has lived in Thailand for over 15 years, is believed to have decided to take an alternative route and became lost.
