A MOTORCYCLIST has been killed in a six-vehicle collision at a notorious Scottish roundabout.
Police are appealing for information after the 71-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of a major crash on the A82, near the Stoneymollan roundabout, on Saturday.
The roundabout outside Balloch is known for causing traffic hold ups, as it is unavoidable when travelling north or south on the A82, a key trunk road to the Highlands from the central belt.
The roundabout was closed northbound – and then completely – from around 1.45pm on Saturday. It reopened fully around six-and-a-half hours later.
In a statement on Sunday, police said: “The crash happened around 1.45pm on Saturday, 12 July, 2025, on the A82 northbound between the Renton off slip and the Stoneymollan roundabout and involved a Harley Davidson motorcycle with side car and a black Volvo XC90, a Nissan Juke, a Vauxhall Corsa, a black Audi A6 sport, and a grey Seat Leon.
“The 71-year-old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.”
The drivers of the cars were uninjured, officers said.
Sergeant Kenny Malaney of Road Policing West added: “Our inquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.
“Sadly, the male motorcyclist died, and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
“The road would have been busy at the time and I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage to contact us as soon as possible.
“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1927 of Saturday, 12 July, 2025.”
