71 people with Covid admitted to Leeds hospitals in a week as virus surge continues

The latest data shows that 79 Leeds people are in hospital with Covid-19, with 14 lying on ventilation beds.

This is according to figures from the latest Public Health England latest data drop on October 12.

There were 71 people admitted to hospital with the virus in the space of a week leading up to this, from October 4 to 10.

There have so far been 6,506 people hospitalised since the pandemic began, treated by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

In the previous week (September 13-19), 66 people were admitted to Leeds hospitals with coronavirus.

In the week prior to Covid-19 restrictions lifting (July 13-19), 92 people were hospitalised in Leeds.

The amount of people hospitalised in Leeds peaked in November when as many as 52 people were admitted to hospital in one day (November 11). Later that month there was as many as 331 patients lying in Leeds hospitals at one time.

The number of people lying in ventilation beds in Leeds peaked in April when there were 45 of these beds being used (April 23).

Throughout the UK, there have been 558,382 people admitted to hospital since the pandemic began, with 7,086 patients in hospital and 783 in ventilator beds according to the latest data.
