A specified campground area, new park entrance, road upgrades and expanded amenities will be provided at Belmont Wetlands State Park thanks to a $700,000 government boost.
The NSW government will provide the funding through its Crown Land Manager Recovery Support Program to support infrastructure upgrades of the park, which is currently under the care of an administrator.
It comes after the park recorded a 45 per cent increase in visitation in the last nine months with almost 139,000 visits to the 554 hectare site.
"Beach camping is extremely popular at the park so these planned improvements will help manage safety and health and environmental impacts," Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Taylor Martin said
"The funding will provide much needed reserve improvements including establishing a specific area within the park for a primitive campground."
