700 new homes and 'state-of-the-art' sports facilities included in second phase Connolly Station plans

Plans have been lodged for the second phase of the Dublin Arch project which will see hundreds of homes and 'state-of-hte-art sports facilities built beside Connolly Station.

The scheme includes 741 homes, two office buildings, shops and a 246-bed hotel.

A cycle hub is also planned as part of the proposed development.

It's expected that 5,000 people will be working or living in the area when it is completed.

Permission was granted earlier this year for the first part of the Connolly Quarter development.

In a statement, developer Ballymore said: "The planning consent forms part of an overall scheme for the Connolly Quarter which proposes 741 homes, of which 75 will be for social housing, two office buildings along with a hotel, and over 20 retail and amenity units.

"The project will create over 1,000 direct construction jobs for five years including training and apprenticeships opportunities at all levels."

The development will also be the new home to Docklands Boxing Club and St. Joseph’s O’Connell Boys GAA Club, where both clubs will have state-of-the-art new facilities.

Ballymore's chairman and chief executive Sean Mulryan said the plan would offer a mix of "dynamic and contemporary building designs" that would make Dublin Arch the "most connected and talked about city district where people will want to live, work and visit."
