70-year-old man is victim of violent assault by three hooded youths as he walked dog

A 70-year-old man was the victim of an unprovoked attack by three youths as he walked his dog.

The sickening incident happened at around 6.20am on Sunday when the OAP was assaulted in the Pyramids Business Park, Easter Inch Steadings, Bathgate.

Three men approached the man from an opening leading to the public footpath that crosses the M8 Flyover bridge from Blackburn where they proceeded to verbally and physically assault him.

They then ran away in the direction of Blackburn Road/Wester Inch, Bathgate across the dual carriageway (A7066).

All three are described as in their early twenties with local accents and wearing dark hooded tops with hoods covering their faces and dark coloured jeans.

Sergeant Craig Wilson said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and we are working to trace those involved.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the males running away, or who may have seen anything suspicious around this time to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 1373 of 30 April, 2023. Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
