7 things to know from latest Cardinals depth chart

The Arizona Cardinals have released their depth chart for Week 10 as they prepare to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend on the road. It has been a while since we looked at the depth chart. There have been some changes.

Here are some notable takeaways from the depth chart in Week 10.

Earlier in the season, the Cardinals had three starting receivers according to the depth chart. Charles Clay was listed as the one starting tight end. Now, they list two tight ends as starters — Clay and Maxx Williams — and only two receivers as starters — Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk. Essentially, the Cardinals’ new “base” offense is in 12-personnel.

Despite his stellar performance against the San Francisco 49ers last week, Drake is still listed as the team’s third-string running back behind both David Johnson and Chase Edmonds. Johnson still has starter status.

Byrd was a starter earlier this year, even by the depth chart. He has fallen down the depth chart now. He is listed as the last receiver of one side, behind Christian Kirk, KeeSean Johnson and Trent Sherfield.

Zach Allen is still a starter

Allen has missed every game since Week 3 with a neck injury. However, he is still listed as a starting defensive end. Jonathan Bullard, listed behind Allen, has been starting for the Cardinals.

Haason Reddick still listed as a starter

Reddick was essentially demoted a couple of weeks ago when the Cardinals moved him to only a sub role on defense, playing in nickel packages. Joe Walker is the guy in at inside linebacker with Jordan Hicks in base sets. However, Reddick remains listed as the starter at linebacker with Walker behind him.

Back of the line for LB Zach Brown

Brown is the new guy in the locker room after signing with the team last week. The feeling many get is that he will soon be in the lineup, either replacing Joe Walker or both Walker and Haason Reddick. However, he is listed behind both on the depth chart.

One Thompson passes the other Thompson

Both of the Cardinals’ rookie safeties, Deionte and Jalen Thompson, get playing time alongside Budda Baker. Jalen plays in base sets and Deionte does in sub packages. However, Jalen is listed as the starter, which a change from the situation at linebacker. Haason Reddick, who plays in sub packages, is listed as the starter.
