7 students injured as bulls fighting on road hit auto-rickshaw in Rajkot

RAJKOT: An auto-rickshaw, carrying seven schoolchildren aged 7 to 10 years, overturned in Jetpur town of Rajkot district of Gujarat on Thursday noon after the vehicle was hit by three bovines fighting on the road.

Fortunately, the children received only minor injuries.

According to the locals in the Takudipara area, two charged bulls were fighting in the middle of a crowded road.

The auto-rickshaw, carrying school children, tried to pass from a corner of the road but at that time the fighting bulls hit the auto with such intensity that the driver lost the balance and the auto-rickshaw overturned.

The footage of the CCTV camera is shocking.

As the auto-rickshaw overturned, the students started screaming.

The nearby people immediately came to rescue the children.

When contacted, Ashwin Gadhvi, chief officer of Jetpur municipality, said, “Fortunately, a few students received only minor injuries. We have already allotted a contract to impound the stray cattle from January 1 and in the last five days, we have impounded around 45 stray cattle. We will become more strict against cow menace on the public road after learning a lesson from this incident.”

According to the sources, there is no strict action against cow menace in small towns and villages of the state.

The small civic bodies also lack funds and resources to fight the cow menace.

In Jetpur also there is no tagging of animals.

As a result, the civic body does not know the ownership of stray cattle and can’t register the police complaint against the owner in case of grievous human injury or death by the stray cattle.
