7 Science-Backed Productivity Hacks To Get Your Sh!t Done
If you’re a chronic overachiever and productivity aficionado like me, I hope your ears just pricked up.
As someone who wants to do All The Things All Of The Time, I’ve had to master a productivity trick or two in my lifetime.
Through tried and true testing (and some very intense Googling), I’ve pulled together a master list of the best productivity hacks. I’m not just talking “make a to-do list” level hacks here. Nope, I’m talking niche, unconventional, and above all, effective AF.
So without further ado, behold your next game-changer.
Use, and I cannot stress this enough, your calendar
We’re kicking off with probably my favourite, and if you ask me, incredibly underrated hack. Chances are, you have access to some kind of calendar, whether you’re an analog girlie with a paper planner, or you use the online calendar of your choice.
Calendar time blocking is my most tried and true time management hack. To do this, all you need to do is schedule time blocks on your calendar and dedicate them to specific tasks.
I’ve been SO productive lately. Something about a packed calendar just makes me feel like I’m making the most out of my time man 😭🤞🏼

For example, if I have three articles to write in a day, and I know they’ll take me approximately two hours each to write, I’ll block out 3x two hour blocks in and amongst my meetings and breaks. Now, there’s no way I’m not getting them done.
By setting specific times aside for your most important tasks, you can enjoy that deep focus that only comes with not having to deal with a million Slack dings in between. Highly recommend.
Automation is your best friend
Okay, this one might seem off-kilter, but don’t worry, I’m not going to get super tech-y here.
You’d be surprised at how many little, mundane, repetitive tasks in your life can be automated. This can literally be as simple as automating your grocery shopping, so you know what you need will show up every week.
Personally, I’ve recently automated my contact lens process. Instead of having to call up every three months and order more boxes, now they just arrive at my doorstep every 90 days as I need them to.
C’mon. Not even having to think about my contact lenses? That’s a huge win.
Gamify your life wherever you can
We’re all guilty of hitting the snooze button one too many times, or watching just one more YouTube vid when we really shouldn’t.
If you’re a gamer, you’d especially know the feeling of hopping on one more Overwatch match. Sure, the sun’s rising, but let’s not talk about that.
Here’s a bright idea. What about turning your gaming into tools that can actually help you be more productive? That’s the beauty of gamification, ICYMI.
Gamification means applying the basic principles of your favourite games to motivate yourself to get shit done and smash your to-do list.
There’s heaps of apps you can use for this. My particular favourite that I use regularly is Hevy, which tells you an object equivalent to how much you lifted in any given gym session.
Find your sound (whatever it may be)
Okay, I’m not going to say listen to music, because we all know that whilst some people love it, others might never get work done again with T Swizzle blaring in the background.
BUT it is truly beneficial to listen to some sort of sound, whatever that sound may be. Some may swear by music, but others are white noise fans.
White noise is an unfair productivity hack.

Brown noise in particular has been gaining traction lately, particularly with recent studies coming to light that show it may be beneficial for those with ADHD.
Whatever your prerogative, find it, and stick to it. It might take some trial and error here, but finding your sound is guaranteed to be a productivity game changer.
After all of this, if you still feel silence is your jam? You do you, queen.
Give yourself a boost as needed
Okay, I’m not going to beat around a bush. You can’t be your best, most productive self every single day.
Life gets a little crazy, but instead of adding stress to your day, having a boost of energy might be just the solution.
Ryde’s wellbeing shots are a fab addition to your productivity repertoire. They’re tasty, mini shots of whatever you need to get done that day — whether it’s energy, focus, exercise, or to relax.
Oh, and the real kicker? No added sugar. No sugar bev girlies, rise up.
Ryde reminds you that you’ve got this, so you can make your wellbeing the priority. Sounds like a win-win to me.
Stack those habits, girl
We all have some form of habits embedded into us. Whether it’s as simple as your morning coffee, or a 10-step skincare routine, chances are there’s some form of consistency in each day.
Enter: habit stacking, which is basically a way to trick your brain into adding more habits onto your current habits. Let me explain.
Habit stacking takes advantage of the habits you currently have in place, and basically attaches them through a thought process of “After/Before [CURRENT HABIT], I will [NEW HABIT].
I might say, for example, “Before [my quarterly review], I will [take a shot of Ryde: Focus]. By embedding these two together, there’s a much higher chance in making sure my new habit sticks. (Oh, and BTW, Ryde: Focus contains Caffeine from Guarana Seeds and L-Theanine, helping you focus when you need to get stuff done).

Once you get the hang of this process, you can create bigger habit stacks with more new habits you want to embed into your life. It’s the ultimate hack for being your best self and making changes that actually benefit you. Get onnnnn it.
Get off the damn bed
This one’s for all my bed rotters out there. Respectfully, stand up.
Okay, I know it can be tough to break that cycle. But there’s definitely a few ways you can motivate yourself. For one, timers (like those used for the Pomodoro Method) are incredibly underrated.
Having designated break times, whether that be taking longer breaks throughout your day, or having a night routine that lets you wind down properly, can help to build structure and free yourself from the bed rotting shackles.
Incorporating the right products into your night routine are also a massive help. Ryde: Sleep contains L-Theanine to help support a natural sleep as part of a healthy and varied diet, and is designed to help you drift away and get the Zzz’s you need.

Another pro tip is to not work in bed. Don’t do it, soldiers. I know how tempting it is, but once you start working from bed, it’s all over. Having your bed be a no-work zone helps break the cycle.
Whatever phase of life you’re in, I can almost guarantee that at least one of these tips can help you be your best, most productive self. Source: me.
