Nov. 25--Seven people were injured when a car crashed into a building in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side early Tuesday, authorities said.
The two-car crash, which involved a CTA bus and a white sedan, happened around 12:15 a.m. in the 3900 block of West Ontario Street, according to police.
Two people suffered serious-to-critical injuries and were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, and five other people had minor injuries and were taken to different local hospitals, including Norwegian American, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford and Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines, citing preliminary information.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the crash.
At the scene, there was a mangled white car with a part of its front end inside a two-story red-brick building at West Ontario Street and North Pulaski Road. A battered CTA bus also stood nearby. Debris from the accident littered the area.
Jose Brisuela, 31, looked at the crash scene in disbelief from across the street along with several other people.
"I just finished fixing up that place," said Brisuela, adding that his father owns the building damaged by the car. "I can't believe this."
Brisuela said he finished the flooring and other repairs in the house Monday. An inspector was supposed to check out the house Dec. 5, and his father and he were hoping to find a tenant after that, he said.
Looking at a hole the crash left in the west wall of the building early Tuesday, Brisuela said he is now unsure of what will happen to the house.
