7 German Online Marketers Dominating Their Industries

Not only is the German economy the strongest economy in Europe, it’s also the fourth biggest economy in the world by nominal GDP. Among other things, what definitely comes with this economic prowess is diversity. A thriving economy always goes hand in hand with a highly diversified job sector. This means that people can be successful while doing all kinds of jobs, from teaching and working at a regular office job to operating an online shop or being a marketer.

Germany has way more to offer than just its car or beer industry. For example, Germany has some very successful marketers. Sure, they might not be that well known globally speaking but their results speak for themselves. And even among these expert marketers, the diversity is showing. While each of them is highly successful, they all specialize in different things.

 

Raoul Plickat (branding)

Raoul Plickat is a very gifted German marketing consultant with a focus on brand building and direct marketing. He runs very successful performance advertising-agencies in Dubai. For his successful and innovative approaches with Facebook and Google advertising, Raoul Plickat was awarded multiple international awards, among them the “TWO COMMA CLUB X” award, which only 17 marketers received worldwide.

Since 2015, he is a member of the Thiel Fellowship, which was founded by Peter Thiel. The fellowship offers outstanding student entrepreneurs under the age of 23 a total of $100,000 over two years and is only awarded to 25 people each year. Plickat has built up some very successful German personal brands as well as international luxury brands, including Dirk Kreuter, Bodo Schäfer, and Philipp Plein.

 

Felix Beilharz (social media)

Felix Beilharz is a 37-year-old German social media expert with a diploma in economic law. However, he is not just any social media expert, he is Germany’s digital marketing rockstar. He has over 16,000 Facebook followers and more than 5,000 Twitter followers. Felix Beilharz has been doing talks and courses about digital marketing since 2007. Not only in Germany but all around the world.

Over the past 12 years, Felix Beilharz has written and published seven books as well as 10 book contributions, all while consulting more than 100 clients. But that is not all. Since 2011, he is also a university lecturer. Additionally, Felix Beilharz further educated himself at Harvard and Cornell. He appeared on countless TV channels, be it for interviews or because the news covered his work. Among other awards, he was voted a “Top 100 Keynote Speaker” by Speakers Excellence. 

 

Michael Bievetski (ad-tech)

Michael Bievetski is a German entrepreneur who was born in Moscow. He is a real estate investor and the owner of the consulting company “Michael Bievetski Consulting.” Among other things, Bievetski also holds interim mandates for various positions at start-ups and corporations. These include his position as Interim CMO at the Swiss AdTech HYGH AG, which is basically the Airbnb of outdoor advertising, as well as his position as Interim Manager Operations at Joyn GmbH, which offers a streaming service and live television.

Previously, Bievetski was the editor of the magazines NewCarz.de, which has over 850,000 monthly readers, and FYLE.de as well as the CEO of the marketing agency MKHL media GmbH. Additionally, he managed the global growth of semcona GmbH, an established German marketing agency working with well-known brands.

 

Beschir Hussain (food services)

Beschir Hussain is the founder of Vertical Food, a cloud kitchen platform with 10 online restaurant chains. In order to popularize his product, his team developed a unique pizza with 111 different types of cheese, making it the cheesiest pizza on the planet. This brilliant marketing move not only broke a Guinness World Record but also went viral and elevated the cloud kitchen platform to become the largest among its peers in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Hussain is a well-educated marketing expert, having studied economics and philosophy at WHU and Columbia University in New York. Beschir Hussain founded the online food delivery marketplace Hellofood, which he expanded across five countries in the Middle East and sold to Delivery Hero in a share deal in 2016. Hussain is also the founder of the Avicenna-Foundation, a scholarship granting institution in Germany.

 

Butrus Said (Amazon)

Butrus Said is a German e-commerce coach and consultant who focuses on helping Amazon vendors achieve their goals. After getting into the e-commerce world in 2004, Said founded his own online shop, Zeil24.de, in 2008 and, within just 10 years, he managed to become a top 10 German Amazon vendor with more than €17 million in annual sales. But not only that, he was also one of the first vendors on Amazon.

Now, with his more than 15 years of experience in the e-commerce sector, Butrus Said is helping start-ups to become just as successful. Said was involved in many different businesses over the years. With his help, these businesses managed to rake in Amazon sales of over €87 million.

 

Waldemar Moss (e-commerce)

Originally, Waldemar Moss, 36, was studying law. During his studies, he got into the e-commerce business world and started buying and reselling products on eBay together with Piotr Stach. In 2007, after realizing that the true potential was in niche products, Waldemar Moss and Stach founded expondo, which is a Berlin-based B2B online supplier.

Today, just 12 years after its inception, expondo has over a million customers in 29 countries all across Europe, which is a challenge in itself, employs over 300 people, and rakes in annual sales exceeding €40 million. By focusing on niche markets with the intention of becoming the best provider in those specific niches, and with his innovative marketing approaches, Moss managed to become insanely successful in spite of the fact that expondo is competing with the likes of Amazon and eBay. So far, expondo, under Moss’ leadership, created 14 in-house brands, some of which became the top brands in their respective field.

 

Simon Moser (blockchain & cannabis)

Simon Moser is a German communications specialist and the founder of the Cyprus-based PR firm PolyGrowth. He is a regular guest author at various high-profile publications, including Entrepreneur Magazine, The Next Web, and GreenEntrepreneur, on which he educates about marketing and entrepreneurship. His company is among the leading public relations agencies in the fields of blockchain and high-tech, where Moser organizes powerful PR, content marketing, and guerilla marketing campaigns.

In 2018, Simon co-founded Strain Insider, an online media outlet focused on the European cannabis market. In only nine months’ time, Strain Insider has become the world’s biggest Europe-focused cannabis publication and has since maintained its position as the leading source for European cannabis content. Today, Strain Insider is working with some of the biggest brands in the cannabis space.
