7 free agent defensive linemen for Cardinals to consider

With the move back to a 3-4 defense, the Arizona Cardinals will need to acquire defensive linemen. In free agency, there are quite a few quality players available.

Sheldon Richardson

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Richardson is one of the most versatile linemen available. He has played in a 3-4 and a 4-3. He has played the interior and the edge. He is only 28 years old.

Ndamukong Suh

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Suh wouldn’t have to travel far coming from the Rams. He is 32 years old and some say his play declined in 2018 but he is still productive. He also has already played for defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. Suh was a Pro Bowler and had five sacks in 2016 with Joseph as the DC for the Miami Dolphins.

Muhammad Wilkerson

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

He is now 30 years old and he played in only three games in 2018 because of a significant ankle injury. However, he has played in a 3-4 his entire career. he is still disruptive. If his ankle checks out, he could still make an impact.

Timmy Jernigan

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Jernigan also played in only three games last season but he is only 26 years old. He had 2.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss and 29 total tackles for the Philadelphia Eagles in their championship season two years ago.

Domata Peko

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Peko makes a lot of sense. He played for Vance Joseph the last two years for the Denver Broncos. He is a true nose tackle. He is 34 years old but incredibly durable. He probably would not cost much and would bring leadership and knowledge of the defense to the team.

Danny Shelton

Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

Shelton might not have become the all-world defensive lineman many believed he could be when he was drafted out of Washington. However, he would fit nicely on the Cardinals defensive line. And he is still young at age 26.

Corey Liuget

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The 29-year-old only played in six games last season but would be a solid addition to the defensive line at the right price. He never became the perennial Pro Bowler his draft status suggested he should become, but he has been a consistent producer.
