MOHALI: With two more arrests, Mohali police have nabbed a total of seven persons for robbing a property dealer of Rs 1 crore in Derabassi on June 10. All the seven were produced in a court that sent them in three days’ police remand, said senior superintendent of police (SSP) Vivek Sheel Soni.
The SSP said, “We have recovered the pistol with which a vegetable vendor was shot at, Rs 98.06 lakh and two cars used in the crime. Their interrogation revealed that two more persons were with them during the crime. They are at large.”
The arrested have been identified as mastermind Ranjodh Singh of Ferozepur from whose house Rs 28 lakh were recovered; Maninderjit Singh of Amritsar from whom Rs 45 lakh, one country-made pistol and three live cartridges were recovered; Mahipal Singh of Panipat from whom Rs 18 lakh were seized; Sunny Jaglan, also of Panipat, from whom Rs 2.59 lakh were recovered; Abhai Singh of Panipat, from whom Rs 4.5 lakh were seized; Saurav Sharma of Gohana and Arya of Panipat.
The SSP said, “A police team went to Karnataka on June 17 and apprehended two criminals. On their disclosures, two more were arrested and weapons were recovered with looted cash.”
On June 13, the police had cracked the gunpoint loot of Derabassi property dealer Harjeet Singh Nagpal with the arrest of three robbers—Ranjodh, Maninderjit and Saurav—out of the five-member gang.
While looting Nagpal in Derabassi that day, the robbers had shot at vegetable vendor Mohammad Sabir (37), as he attempted to catch one of them. The vegetable vendor had sustained two bullet injuries.
