7,312 test positive for Covid-19 in Kerala

T’PURAM: The state witnessed 7,312 positive cases of the 69,680 samples tested in the last 24 hours. Among the new cases detected, 6,201 people have taken the vaccination, 2,904 have taken both doses, and 1,857 have not taken even a single vaccine dose.

The total active cases at present are 73,083, of which 7.7% of people are admitted either in hospitals or other treatment centres.

Meanwhile, 51 Covid deaths were reported, taking the death toll in the state to 32,598. At the same time, 8,484 patients have recovered from the disease.

Among the new cases, 6,813 cases have been infected through local spread. The contact source of infection was not traceable for 415. Thiruvananthapuram reported the highest number of cases with 1,099, followed by Ernakulam (1,025).

There are 2,61,090 persons presently under observation in various districts, of which 2,56,032 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres, and 5,058 are in isolation at hospitals.

As per the weekly infection population ratio, 115 wards in 77 local bodies are having a WIPR of more than 10%.
