68 new dengue cases in Delhi

NEW DELHI: A total of 68 new cases of dengue were reported in the city last week, which ended on December 31. However, no more deaths were reported last week, as per a report released by South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Tuesday.

In 2021, a total of 9,613 people were infected with dengue and 23 deaths took place, mostly in the months of October and November. This is the highest official toll after the dengue outbreak in 2015, which affected nearly 16,000 people and killed 60.

In November 2021, 6,739 cases of dengue were recorded. In comparison, even during the outbreak year of 2015, only 841 cases were reported in November. The total of malaria cases remained 167 in 2021 in comparison to 228 in 2020 and chikungunya 89 in comparison to 111.
