67-year-old man in hospital with 'serious injuries' after crash which shut A90

A 67-year-old man has been rushed to hospital with 'serious' injuries after a horror crash on a major Scots road.

We told earlier tonight how emergency services rushed to the incident near to the slip road to Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire on the A90 following the crash between a car and a van around 2.55pm

The major road was shut as cops probed the smash between a blue Hyundai i10 car and a silver Renault Trafic van.

Police have revealed that the 67-year-old male driver of the Hyundai has been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious injuries.

The van driver was uninjured.

Sergeant Alexander Bowser-Riley said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to this collision and we would be keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.

“We would also be keen to hear from anyone who was on the road in the area around the same time and may have dashcam footage, whether they witnessed the collision or not.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1989 of 17 December."
