66-year-old woman robbed by two bikers in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA: A 66-year-old woman was robbed by two motorcycle-borne men who barged into her house on the pretext of giving a wedding invitation on Tuesday night. The accused robbed the woman of her gold jewellery, cash and mobile. The victim has been identified as Santosh Kumar, 66, of Kot Mangal Singh area.

The woman stated that at around 8:45 PM when she was present at her house alone, someone rang the doorbell. She opened the main gate and saw two masked men. They introduced themselves as the friends of her son Tony and stated that they have come to give a wedding invitation. The woman asked her to hand over the invitation, however the accused insisted on coming inside the house on the pretext of drinking water.

The woman added, she went to the kitchen and gave water to both the men. After drinking water, one of the accused held her from neck and the other one snatched her gold earrings, gold bangles, besides her mobile and cash kept on the table. After the accused left, she raised an alarm. The neighbors then called her son and told about the incident.

Investigating officer from Division number 6 police station, ASI Sukwhinder Singh said that when one of the accused had removed his mask to drink water, the woman had recognized him as Rakesh Kumar.
