$622,000 upgrade for Dudley beach car park area

OVERVIEW: The Dudley project is one of 170 funded by the state government in a $257 million national parks package. It is due for completion by September.

DUDLEY beach car park will close intermittently over the coming months to allow for a $622,000 facelift of the area.

National Parks and Wildlife Service lower Hunter area manager Mitch Carter said a surf viewing platform and picnic shelters near the car park were part of the suite of works.

"Glenrock State Conservation Area is one of the region's most popular reserves with over one million people visiting every year," said Mr Carter.

"The new surf viewing platform, picnic shelters and improved carpark will comply with accessibility standards and the southern beach access trail will be also be resurfaced."

Construction is due to start in May and be completed in August, weather permitting.

The temporary closures will not shut out pedestrians, with access to be maintained via the Bombala Street, Goulburn Street, Debs Parade and Banksia Street walking tracks.
