A 62-year-old man has died following an earlier collision involving a lorry and a car near Leith Walk.
Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene at Newkirkgate shortly after 1pm this afternoon following reports of a collision.
The collision, involving a Vauxhall Astra car and an HGV lorry, resulted in the man sustaining fatal injuries.
Emergency services rushed to the scene however he was sadly pronounced dead.
The Leith Walk junction, with Constitution Street, Duke Street and Great Junction Street, remains cordoned off following the incident.
Police are urging anyone with information or dash-cam footage to come forward.
Inspector Roger Park from the Road Policing Unit in Edinburgh said: "Our deepest sympathies are with the family of the pedestrian killed during this incident and we are working to establish exactly what has happened.
"Members of the public who were nearby at the time and saw what happened, or who may have any relevant dash-cam footage should contact police immediately.
"Likewise, anyone with any other information that can assist our ongoing enquiries is also urged to get in touch."
