61-year-old motorcyclist dies after Glasgow Royston Road crash

Police have confirmed a motorcyclist involved in a crash on Royston Road has died.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Monday afternoon after a collision involving a grey Ford Kuga and a white Honda CB650 motorcyle in the north east of Glasgow.

The 61-year-old motorcyclist was rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University however sadly passed away on Wednesday.

The 46-year-old driver of the Ford Kuga was uninjured.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses following the crash.

A statement published by the Greater Glasgow Police Division this evening advised: "Police in Glasgow can confirm that the motorcyclist injured in a crash in Royston Road earlier this week has died.

"The crash happened around 4.15pm on Monday, 22 February, and involved grey Ford Kuga and a white Honda CB650 motorcycle near to the entrance of the British Car Auctions premises.

"The 61-year-old motorcyclist who was being treated for his injuries at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital died on Wednesday, 24 February.

"The 46-year-old driver of the Ford Kuga was uninjured."

Sergeant Kenny Malaney of the Road Policing Unit at Glasgow commented: “Our thoughts are with the family of the motorcyclist at this difficult time. Our enquiries into this crash are ongoing and we are urging any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist our investigation, to contact us through 101 quoting reference number 2323 of 22 February.”
